Who We Are

At Loud ‘n’ Proud we love music!

The heart of our service is providing opportunities for young people to learn to play musical instruments. As well as simply being a fun activity in and of itself, music provides a wealth of benefits to the young people we work with. Transferable skills are developed such as resilience, patience, and perseverance, creativity and memory capacity are increased, confidence is developed, stress is reduced, and lifelong friendships are formed.

And we’re good at it!  Our pupils have gone on to win competitions such as Live and Unsigned UK and Renfrewshire Quest for Talent (twice!), and we have had two winners of Britain’s Young Drummer of the Year, and several more finalists.

However, Loud ‘n’ Proud is so much more than just a music school! As well as providing all of these benefits to our regular weekly pupils, as a socially conscious charity working within our community we also have a proven track record for using music help support and enhance the lives of people in need.

Working on our own outreach programs, with other charities in the area, and with organisations such as Strathclyde Police, the Crime Prevention Panel (Renfrew), the Anti Social Investigations Support Team, Renfrewshire Education and Leisure, Renfrewshire Neighbourhood Wardens team and Paisley YMCA, we provide avenues for underprivileged and at risk children to use music as a driver for change, diverting them away from anti-social behaviour such as youth disorder, drug use and underage drinking. Our work has been recognised as an unqualified success, and has won several public service awards for Tommy and the Loud ‘n’ Proud team.
